Hello

Post by Joxgirl »

Hello,
The time has finally come for us to bring a DS into our home. I'm Joxgirl. Hoping to gather as much good information as I can. After we bring our dog home I plan to share what I know too.

Welcome.

I'll start with the standard questions:

What lead you to the Dutch Shepherd as a choice?
- Your experience
- What research

Where will the dog come from?

When will you be getting your dog?

What are your plans - protection, agility, tracking, etc.?

Thanks for the welcome. We have done reading about the DS temperament, their needs as far as exercise and for health. We have spoken to K9 handlers and my husband has experience with working K9. We want a good dog for protection as well as to include it as a family member. For the most part their is usually someone always home, we have a big backyard and lots of patience for training. We realize that we we be investing in formal traing with experts. My husband is willing to drive out of state for a good dog from a reputable breeder. I just read a response that there are often dogs for rescue in San Diego. We will look into that. I am on Facebook and have been reading posts for nearly a year now about the DS. However I haven't seen any on dogs that may need a new home. I need to do better reading. My husband and I are open to bringing home a dog this way as well. Thanks for taking the time to read and respond to my post. .....oh and we are hoping to find a DS within the next two to three months.
