demon is primarily a guard dog first and a companion for koda second. if i was just looking for another pet/companion i would have gotten a jack russel terrier as my mums always wanted one.

Is your dog protection trained? If not then I wouldn't count on it being a protection dog.

Patton (my DS) is 3.5 months of age at this point. So, no, he's not yet trained but I have ZERO doubt that he's going to be an outstanding PPD dog before this year is out.

You should already be incorporating bite work into obedience at that age. These dogs need to have bite work incorporated as the reward for doing obedience starting as pups.

Here is a nice clip that shows training the puppy using treats until they understand the command then switching to a tug as a reward to keep them engaged. The biting is positively reinforced to help build drive and obedience. Biting is the reward.
