IMPD K-9 receives honored send-off after losing battle to cancer Story Link

Timo (A 12-year-old Dutch Shepherd and a 10-year veteran with IMPD) was a great asset to the Indianapolis Community, Narcotics Detection Team, and will be terribly missed by his handler and fellow officers. There is a special bond formed between the handler’s and their K9 partners. A bond that makes it difficult for one to operate without the other. Sending a beloved K9 over the rainbow bridge is never easy, but is easier to accept knowing the pain and suffering is over. Timo’s handler and the IMPD appreciates the communities outpouring of support, thoughts, and prayers.

"He is a Dutch Shepherd and he was born in Slovakia,” said Joey Gonzalez, K-9 Officer with the Grand Junction Police Department.

He’s certainly cute and cuddly, but he’s also tough, taking down anyone with one bite.

Young police dog making a big splash Story Link

(Tracie) Erickson, K-9 officer for the Houston County Sheriff’s Department, is partnered with Roman, a 2-1/2 year old Dutch Shepherd that’s been making news lately. Though Roman has only been active since June of 2018, he and Erickson have already won three impressive awards.

Roman aka SUPER DOG!
1. Two Tracks and apprehensions in one day.
2. Just twp weeks later another track and apprehension through a swamp, onto pavement, into a condominium where the suspect was hiding in a clothes dryer.
3. Active duty for less than 3 months.
4. Three awards from the Region 12 area (MN, WI, IA, ND, SD) of the US Police Canine Association (USPCA).
5. Up for case of the year from Region 12.

Kosmo keeps order at the Bel Air mall in Mobile

The Shoppes at Bel Air added Kosmo, a 3-year-old Dutch Shepherd, and K9 Officer Justin Kestler to the security team last month.

There's video of the incident in the links. Believe it or not there were some "mall-goers" that complained about the use of a dog to maintain order.
