I was out at my pottery class this Monday and my husband took the dogs for a walk when I was gone. When I got home, he told me that our neighbour had fed the dogs some raw Caribou. (Lucky them)
Anyway, the next day I take the dogs out for thier lunchtime poop and Halo's came out green (like st patricks day green). Diesel had the runs.
I know it must have been the meat but Green??? What could have caused that?
It is now Wednesday and they aren't back to normal yet.
I feed them Acana kibble normally, and as the primary care-giver for the dogs, I would have advised my husband to only give them a little meat at first, but I wasn't there and have no idea how much they got to eat.
I just can't get over how green her poo was!

Re: Caribou
The green is just undigested pancreatic fluid - just like with humans. The irritation from a new food source probably sped up their motility and therefor you saw the actual color of the fluid that is usually changed during digestion. No worries, just feed something that slows digestion - their normal kibble, some rice, some pumpkin...whatever works for them.

Thanks Christie! That's a relief!Christie M wrote:The green is just undigested pancreatic fluid - just like with humans. And yes the rice/pumpkin (I also give butternut squash) is the best siolution for digestion issues...works every time!
