Geyser, at 13.5 weeks, is making daily progress, as puppies do.
However, she always finds new things to **** with .
I am a pyro...I love fires. We have this cast iron fire pit. Had a fire Labor Day weekend. I asked my spousal unit to move the fire pit away from its place in the yard, so it wouldn't be a hazzard to me and the little girl when we're playing out there.
He moved it. Fine. Left behind in its wake is a scorched earth spot from beneath the fire pit. Probably also has some ash mixed in, which would fall out the air holes on the bottom of the bowl.
So, guess what my little darling has suddenly decided is ambrosia and wants to eat? Yup, the nasty-black-scorched-earth-ash mixture on the ground there<sigh>.
It's always something...

Awwww. I am just being a pup, mom!
I used to worry about my assorted brindles if I had a fire going (like a burn pile to remove yard waste) but they are a LOT smarter than we give them credit for. Nobody even tried to pull any pretty sticks out of the burning heap, imagine that! And they all steered clear of the heat zone around it too. even the youngest. When I have a fire going in the fireplace in winter, (yup, it does get cold enougn for that, even in Texas) the dogs will drape themselves close, but never dangerously. Must be too hot too close. Problem solved.

Re: It's Always Something...
Letty went through a phase where she thought the dirt piles that the pocket gophers created in the yard were super cool. She'd dig on them and take a bite of dirt and run little puppy zoomies. Very cute! Now she just walks over them as if they're not there.
