Lyric is having fun with our Treibball games, but she is now trying to "push/herd" my old JRT every time she moves.(Literally, nose to her butt pushing her--no reward--which she thinks she deserves.) Bianca is not at all amused, and only tolerates Lyric anyway.(It doesn't help that I'm laughing at them.) Soooo, another training dilemma to figure out. Any suggestions?

Poor Bianca. My white fluffy Standard poodle is NOT thrilled with our herding training either....

I guess you have to train an off switch with it.

This is another great place to use "leave it," before Lyric does the behavior. Of course, you'll have to be supervising a lot to ensure you can enforce it (i.e., it may be time for a drag line again). (And, as funny as it is, you just can't let it happen and then crack up at it, hard as that may be )

Interesting about the poking...Lyric never poked before the "push" cue? Geyser has always loved poking, especially the cats, so of course, I don't let her do it, but still, I just recognize that behavior pre-"push" cue, to the point that I'm wondering if it's a DS repertoire kind of thing.

No works just fine as far as stopping the behavior---what I'm wondering is if it will dampen the enthusiasm for the game?
She would sometimes poke me as a pup, but to me that is a demanding behavior so I don't allow it. Only now has she started this with Bianca. (Who just ignores it anyway,or sometimes gives a great dirty look.)
Watched all day with camera at the ready----of course today she hasn't done it.

Given the additional info, I don't think it really has anything to do with your treiball at all. I think they're just pokers .

If you have built enough value into the game, telling her not to poke the cat isn't going to harm her playing at all. It's like a protection trained dog that learns mouth manners/bite inhibition at home; doesn't hurt them in the sport at all (at least, that's my )
