Rescue puppy - possible Dutch Shepherd?

Post by KJMcBee »

Hey Everyone! Total newbie here. We recently adopted a new puppy, just called a Shepherd mix by the adoption agency. The trainer that raised the puppies said that the mom is a Dutch Shepherd and she definitely looks like one. No clue what the dad is. What do you guys think? Any DS in him? He’s 9 weeks old (14 pounds) so it might be too early to tell. He’s all brindle, just dark with a little white patch on his chest. The others in the litter were lighter brindle. One ear has already started to stand up. Image

Thanks! I guess time will tell. Mom was small only around 40 pounds but no one knows how old she is and she came from a severe abuse situation so it’s all kind of a crap shoot. But he is a very sweet and smart puppy. We know he’s going to get bored easily so we’re working on training a lot to keep him from getting antsy.
