Pet Insurance

I know this seems insane but with as much trouble as H was getting into as a young pup I went and got him health insurance. He's been insured since about 6 or 9 months... and I am SO glad I did.
The company we went with is Healthy Paws Pet Insurance and I cannot recommend them enough. They're one of the few companies with NO lifetime limits, per year limits, or per incident limits, they cover HD (as long as it's not preexisting and there's no diagnosis in the first year of coverage), and I think they cover dental as long as it's part of an injury. They do NOT cover vaccinations, office visits, and flea/tick preventative like some other companies, but in exchange you can pick your coverage level, your deductible, and you're not limited to who you go and see in the US and (I think) Canada - could be wrong on the Canada part. Best of all - they PAY IN DAYS. Not weeks, not months... Sometimes I have a check cut the next day. So yes you do have to pay out of pocket for the clinic BUT you get your money back ASAP so you can pay off that credit card bill in under a week.
H's recent visit to the emergency clinic cost $600... I got back $360. Part of that was my deductible - if I had met that before I would have gotten back $437 at our coverage level ($600-$115 doc fee, at 90% coverage) so that whole bill would have only been $163.50. Even better they send me emails asking about how H is doing or if I call they'll ask me how he's doing and if he was okay after the last visit (they have record of). They're truly a wonderful company and care about the pets they cover.

It's honestly one of the best choices I made for Mr. Trouble... Else I would be in soooooo much trouble with his vet bills... And know that if the worse was to ever happen he is covered helps me sleep at night.
