I have to admit, I'm disappointed in this result. I would have like to have seen more precautions introduced.

RE: Arizona police officer suspended after K9 partner dies in hot car

If you're interested in reading the actual investigation report: https://files.constantcontact.com/2da53 ... b254f5.pdf

I am still reading it, but so far it looks like the department may have more to blame than the officer. It looks like they did not have any standard operating procedures for the K9 units and the suspended officer was never given training on his equipment that was supposed to keep Ike safe.

I agree. I know the officer had to have been devastated and in no way meant to endanger the dog. However, it doesn't seem the department created a purposeful mindset to caring for their canine members. So many little errors compounded to the final result.

I know that I have shared the Covid sniffing DS before, but this is a pretty unique article that describes how they implement the protocol to search the guests.

Sniffing Out COVID for the Miami Heat
Story Link
Dogs can be trained to sniff out just about anything: bedbugs and black-footed ferrets, firearms and peroxide-based explosives, gourmet fungi, toxic mold, marijuana, malaria, ovarian cancer, even contraband cell phones and child pornography. Last month, the Miami Heat announced that its detection dogs—Abby, Happy (another German shepherd), Magni (Belgian Malinois), and Tina (Dutch shepherd)—had learned to detect the coronavirus.
