Won't go outside after 5pm

Post by centrop67 »

It's not Radar, but Leela won't go outside after 5pm since new year's eve.

She's deathly afraid of fireworks and has just decided no way is she going outside late in the day.

The result is a nice present on the living room floor every morning.

Thoughts?

You’ll have to take her out yourself with a leash and collar for a month or so. Not going out to do her business is not an option.

For me, it would depend on the fear level. Just a little anxious, just going out with the leash would work.

But if it's true fear, being forced by the leash could cause the leash to become a source of fear. If it is that, I'd start by sitting in the threshold in with the inside lights off and my legs out the door to hand fed purposefully calm relaxed and undemanding....then gradually move with the food outside in the dark over a few days.

But that's from being a foster parent and dealing with ptsd.

What if she checks her phone, though?

I had to take the phone away. She was sending nudes to whoever asked.

UPDATE: Leela went outside last night. No presents this morning :wtg:

I think we just need to ease back into our routines.
