Is she a dutch?

Post by bama29fan »

Hi yall, we have recently picked up this little girl from the humane society. they call her a cattle dog mix but i think she may have a good deal of dutch in her? everything i have read over the last couple of days about personality and pictures i have seen lead me to her being dutch (to some degree). They say she is about 6 months old and she is 30lbs. one ear appears to be trying to stand...im sure her diet has not been the best up to this point. she is very active and agile

What do y'all think?

sorry these are the best pictures i have right now.

also....another reason that pointed me here was there was a guy at the petco adoption event that was a former police k9 (whatever you call them) that said she looked like a dutch shepherd (or at least perdominantly). said he has been around them and trained them....for what ever thats worth?

thanks for the welcomings!!!! in that link there is also a short video of her jumping and spinning.

the more i read the more her personality/ temperment matches a dutch.....???? it just seems that here skull is a tab wider and snout a little short.....and the hind quarters may be a little different?

looking straight down on here she has more of a shepherd head (narrower) is there a point in their maturation that the snout grows in to the longer more typical shepherd shape?

Is that some tell-tale Chow purple in her tongue I see? She could get a nice wide head from being part Chow. She's a cutie! And welcome!

Welcome, bama29fan,

She's a cutie, regardless, and maybe she is a DS mix. We'll see what the experts around here have to say.

It's great that she found a forever home with you!

What are your plans for your super smart and athletic girl?

Tell us about yourself: I like Dutch Shepherddogs, especially the roughcoat. At the moment we have three dogs, two DS (one female who is 10 years and one male who is six months) and one male Laekenois at the age of three. We live in the north of The Netherlands.

Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind.
Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32.
Can't wait for all the snow to get gone! Spring is coming too slow this year!
