Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.

Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!

I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.

Happy half anniversay!!

What a gorgeous pic of him. Sure is easy to see why you've fallen head over heels for him. He couldn't be any luckier to have found you.

Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind.
Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32.

He is a real beauty! Shines of Love and good health. You've come a long way with him in such a short time! I'm sure he knows what a lucky boy he is to find such a great forever home!

OMG, what a wonderful picture of him! The composition, with all the contrasting lines and the color of the wood next to him...just wonderful (not to mention his incredibly handsome face!)

Way to go on a very successful first 6 months....is seems like you've had him longer than that...

NADSR is awesome and their fosters are top notch! They do such a great job of saving Dutchies from the brink, nurturing them, and matching them up with a forever home for a second chance at life.

Nice to see your Odin is working out as well as the rescue we were fortunate enough to get through them is with us. He looks so happy in your pic!
Travis -> human (of questionable sanity)
Doggies:
  • 1 senior NADSR rescue dutch shepherd
1 pocket Dutchie tennis ball addict
    1 geriatric pomeranian (yaps incessantly)

  yes our kitties are still intact. Kai could care less about them (phew). He play bows with them trying to get them to play with him - it's hysterical!! If they run away, he thinks it's a game and does try to chase them in the most adorable way.

Funny, but cats are not scared at all. Their reaction to Kai is vastly different than when Odin came into the mix. They are much friendlier to Kai. I think he must have been around cats because there isn't any prey "I want to eat you" drive. I think Odin broke them all in   .

Had a cat here (long ago), who use to walk straight up to every new dog I got---no matter how big---and cuff the hell out of them, then sit back and stare them down. After the initial "It's MY house" intro, the cat would ignore them completely. Hard for a dog to chase a cat who won't run.

I think your kitties probably knew Odin wasn't playing, but that this dog is. Cats are very strange beasts.
