Awww, how cute! The new owner should join the forum and submit the pic to this month's photo contest. no wait - that would compete with your leg/puppy shot.Christie M wrote:One name determined.
Northwoods Feel the Burn - call name "Char."
Her owner Jennifer also competes in Fitness and Body Building Competitions, so it has a few meanings. I told her she can just say it to the decoys when Char leaves a bruise..... "Feel the Burn."

Though you probably have your names all picked out, I just saw this thread and thought I'd try a couple for fun. The below call names all come up as Dutch names and the meanings relate to a woodland theme.
Northwood's Redbud (call name Ceris)
Northwood's Laurel (call name Dafne or Daphne)
Northwood's Like Nothing on Earth (call name Damek)

Re: Puppy Names - Take 2
i hope not too late to help: name [ meaning] : Dolph [noble wolf], Derek [king of nations, first of the people], Derwin [dear friend], Diamond [bright protector, but also implying an April birth], Cornelius [ kingly, powerful],
Cale or Caleb [dog], Connel [hound of valor], Cody [helper] and some ''k'' words from native American languages that might be amenable to being ''c'' words - Kachina [ sacred dancer, spirit], Kaya [elder sister in Hopi], Kaliska [coyote chasing wolf], Kateri [pure in Mohawk], and finally but not native American there is Kasey [vigilant !!]. and then there is Charlemagne, which should be reserved for only the best dog ever.
for the record and as some of you might know, i just 2 weeks ago rescued 2 DS pups [ just less than 8 mos old] from Kentucky and from sw Indiana. the one in IN i was adopting when he went missing [ chasing a deer, so i was tempted to name Kaliska] for 13 days. so i drove there to hunt for him. brought both pups back in my car in a 2500 mile odyssey [ 105 hours in car incl. the slow search]. the runaway is now named SAKI-ma [ chief or king in nat.American] and the other pup, a very sweet but very drivey with a great nose, dark DS, is renamed Ale-XANDER [defender of man]. Xander is now looking for a furever home that realizes that a super-talented and athletic dog can also be a love-bug in need of lots of affection.

Re: Puppy Names - Take 2
yes, Stephanie, that is Poncho. getting him back was quite an ordeal; really appreciate all the support that the DS and Mal communities showed - it was very impressive. Julie Bear at Abmcr got the word out within minutes of learning that my prospective adoptee had gone missing.
never liked the name Poncho and was going to change it anyway, but it turns out it was just convenient shelter reference; he did not seem to know it at all. within a few hours he was responding 90x more to saki-ma than to poncho.
the dark one is so so sweet, mind-boggling with children despite being a total firecracker of a dog otherwise. best nose, amazing ability to grab anything out of the air. great dog in a not great situation in Kentucky. [ After Saki was missing for 13 days, i decided wisdom dictate i call an end to it and left late on a thursday - patrolling streets, fields, old mining paths to the last minute. i decided my trip should not be for nothing, so went to Louisville,KY to rescue Xander. next morning Saki was found and i drove back to border of IN/IL to collect him and prayed the 2 would get along in the car[ no crate fits], especially as Xan was not neutered at that point.

Re: Puppy Names - Take 2
Thank you everyone for all of the awesome suggestions. I have a few puppies that I am keeping back to raise for police work, so I think I will be stealing some when I finalize who is who. I will post a complete list of names when they are all set.
Here is a challenge. I am keeping the fawn female from the Tommy/Ziva litter which is my C-litter to raise. I have decided to name her Cosette. This is for 2 reasons - 1, I love it. 2, Les Mis has so much significance to me through my high school years, and with the movie launching...it just made me want to. I have been looking up name translations and there are a ton. One is lark....that could go with the Northwoods theme. But I also just kinda like Northwoods French Tragedy....but I think that's a little mean for a dog name
Suggestions?

we had the same problem at the g-litter of flying attacks - the dogs called "geremy´s ...... of fyling attacks" (geremy is the sire of this litter) and so my suggestions were:
genius
google
junior
gibbs (yes - i love N.C.I.S.
)
gladiator
gwenn (but we had only males in this litter)
godfather
goodness
ganimed
gunshot
do you know this site?
