Stella is so on the naughty list...

Post by katm4110 »

I swear I used to think Stella was a shitzu in a DS's body... I'd read all of your stories about mischievous dutchies getting in to everything and think wow mine is so freakishly calm! Well now that she knows she's a permanent member of the family her DS traits are showing! In the past two weeks she has robbed candy canes off of the Christmas tree, pee'd on the carpet, tried to eat a sales person, emptied out an entire laundry basket and chewed up my favorite bra, ate my belt, and got in to the garbage while we were gone and shredded dirty diapers! She's back to being kenneled at night and when we are gone and isn't allowed upstairs or anywhere really unsupervised. I'm guessing this means she's comfortable in her new home?

I swear this all started when I let her up on the bed!!!

I hear ya on the bra thing. Not my, DS, but 2 of my english setter boys when I was growing up loved to play tug of war with my bras. They'd each grab a half and split it down the middle. My mom called the other day and said due to the addition of their new doggie door, she found a couple complete outfits and a few pair of slippers in the fenced in back yard the other day.

Tell us about yourself: Artist, Mother, Equestrienne, Educator, Homesteader wannabe, dog-lover. Not counting my current DS, I have had 2 GSDs and 3 rescued mixed-breeds. All of these dogs were rescues, except for my childhood GSD, who was a gift from my parents when I was 7, and my current DS who I bartered artwork for from the breeder. Maiyou, one of my current dogs, is a Pitbull/New Guinea Singing Dog of 13 years old. Still very active and "Young" in nature. I now also have a DS named Mokume, (pronounced "Moh-koo-meh") or "Moko" for short. Newest member of our pack is Freyja, a random mixed hound I rescued during a horseback trip in the middle of a state forest.

 Oh nooooooo!!!

Yep, you're right to look at it as a positive sign that she's feeling right at home, though! ;) Just like with our kids, they always save their worst behavior for us... 'Cuz they know it's "safe" to be at their worst and we'll still love them, even if we temporarily don't know if we should kill 'em or not!

Mokume has been turning more gremlin-ey of late, too, which I'm choosing to view as a good sign that he's both settled in and sees us as "home" and that he's over whatever scary sickness he had going on last week! Maiyou alternately either glares at him disapprovingly when he's being naughty, and then haughtily looks at me, like "Hmph! -I- don't do that! But nnnnooooooo, -I- wasn't good enough for you, YOUUU wanted another puppy! So there!" or slinks around looking guilty, like she's worried that she'll be in trouble by association!
