You'd Think She Was a Blonde...

Here's yet another thing that cracks me up about Geyser...

While she's as smart as all our DSs, and can work in drive, all that goes out the window if you're just messing around.

One of the things we work on is her knowing the names to the rooms in our house. It's a very small house, so she only has to get kitchen, bedroom, office, and couch (OK, so three rooms and one object ).

If she's very calm, and I just say, OK, let's go to the office so I can get on my computer, she'll grab an antler and lead me right to the correct room, ditto with the other two rooms. If we're playing, and I say, "Office!," she'll just head for the closest room (or object) without even trying to think.

I can tell when she's thinking...and when she's not...and I love it when she does think...but it sure does crack me up when she doesn't. (She doesn't get the tug or whatever if she's wrong, of course, just the NRM, and then she'll get it right, usually ).

Same thing with right/left foot (for the front feet). She knows these very well, but if she's too excited, just guesses and goes back and forth.

Odin knows that when I pull out his collar and leash he's supposed to sit and wait, but sometimes he just gets so excited he remembers sit and that there's supposed to be a second part, but not what the second part is. He tries everything until he can get it right, spins, burpees, down, jumps, giving his paw, going to his cage, finding "daddy", and his favorite, bowing. The more excited he gets, the more things come out. That's how we found out he was trick trained before we got him. I can get him focused if I try, but usually I'm laughing too much to care and then he starts singing.

Once that butt starts wiggling, the brain shuts down.

Sadie is as blond as they come. When we are outside and I say IN they know to go to a door, depending front or back, the go to a door. When we are inside and I grab the collars and leashes, then all of the training *poof* Sadie spins, Thalie barks and sticks her head between my legs, thats from the Ring stuff. They will sit, for a split second. Thalie will leap through her collar, Sadie I can usually get her to sit long enough to put it on. Then its a few frantic laps around the table. Then Sit again, then Sadie will give me that dumb blonde look " are we there yet?". Thalie will start barking and she has a very deep bark for a lady. Then its time to go and *wwoooosh* two stripys fly by and out the door.

Diesel has a bad habit of looking behind him (usually looking at Halo) while continuing to walk forward. Consequently, he walks into walls, tables, trees etc. That's when I call him a ding-dong!

Haha, Harvey does that when he's excited. It mainly only happens on his side with the bad eye though.

I think that is a common trait in DS's, both of mine and my Mal would do this alot ! They get so excited and run then look behind them for the other one then *WHAP* right into something hard.

Or mine play in the kitchen UNDER the table then I hear *BAM* ( picture the batman cartoon) and its usually Sadies head hitting the table.
