Strange how things work out

I transported a young mal puppy for ABMCR a while back that stayed for an overnight and my husband and I really liked her, but didn't think it was the right time to add a second dog. She ended up getting adopted by her foster mom who lives within a half hour of us. I went to go visit her for the first time today and sat in on a training class her mom taught.

I'm so excited to find a trainer in the area that not only knows working dogs really well but also thinks prongs and clickers can coexist and she actually competes and teaches with a competition mindset. Odin got invited to come to a few classes for free to try out the place and if we like it we can start right into her advanced class. She also doesn't care about maintaining yearly vaccination boosters so he only has to get what I feel comfortable with.

It's unfortunate that we have to have the DHLPP to compete in dog shows, so I like to hold off as much as possible. I really don't like the Bordetella vaccine though. I think it's pointless and everyone who practices at a kennel wants it. Odin's lucky enough to go to his foster's mom's kennel/home if we do have to leave him and she isn't very strict on him.

I really hope we like this place. Life's been stressful lately and I need something solid like a good group class to look forward to.

Christie,
Her name's Emily Hilgenberg and she works out of Frisky Dog in Brookfield. They have a few trainers there, so I can't speak for them all, or the facility itself for other things, but she's been wonderful so far. Odin and I are going on Wednesday to her beginner class for fun.

If you follow AMBCR rescue at all, she now has Blossom, one of the girls from last year's NE Ohio litter that had zero socialization. She's come a long way with Emily. When I had her, I could barely walk her. She wouldn't pee on leash and was deathly afraid of fire hydrants and mailboxes.
