One year with Hank

Wow, what a ride it's been so far! He came home with me one year ago today, a 6lb (3Lbs of that was ears) little firecracker who immediatly stole my heart. He is now a 75Lb BIG firecracker who is smart, fearless, driven, silly, playful and just all around great! He's done so well with his training and has a great personality, I still havent found the "off switch" that seems to be elusive to a lot of us here, I have however found a pause button that is working pretty well for now :D

I might not post much but i'm here taking everything in and want to thank everyone for the advice, insights and great pictures and stories.

wow, look at him !!!!!!!! What a handsome boy !! He grew into his ears. The picture above this where you are holding him is so precious, the look on his face is to die for.

Tell us about yourself: Artist, Mother, Equestrienne, Educator, Homesteader wannabe, dog-lover. Not counting my current DS, I have had 2 GSDs and 3 rescued mixed-breeds. All of these dogs were rescues, except for my childhood GSD, who was a gift from my parents when I was 7, and my current DS who I bartered artwork for from the breeder. Maiyou, one of my current dogs, is a Pitbull/New Guinea Singing Dog of 13 years old. Still very active and "Young" in nature. I now also have a DS named Mokume, (pronounced "Moh-koo-meh") or "Moko" for short. Newest member of our pack is Freyja, a random mixed hound I rescued during a horseback trip in the middle of a state forest.

Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.

Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!

I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.

I just love him! His face is too adorable! Raven still tries the sweet innocent face with me. I think we may have gotten our dogs around the same time. I see you joined the forum the day before me lol! I was blessed with Raven on April 20, 2012 (my birthday), DH and I had been researching dog breeds that would make good guard dogs but also be a part of the family. I grew up with Germans & pitbulls and I was leaning towards a german but researching the Dutch and the Belgian breeds as well and then...I met Her! And that was it for me! Now were joined at the hip...literally she is sitting on my dang on hip and pinning me to my computer chair lol!
