Greetings from France !

Post by Dark Side »

Hello,

It's really great to find an international forum to exchange views on our breed from all over the world !!!

My name is Fred, I live in the south east of France, near the Italian boarder. Fell in love with dutch shepherds about 20 years ago but waited till 2000 to get my first dutchie, at last !!! ;) I now have 3 of them (all short haired), hopefully soon 5 since my youngest girl is expecting puppies for august and I am planning to keep 1 or 2 females.

I share a lot of activities with my DS : mondioring (even though it's not easy to find a club to practice it down where I am), dog shows, and my DS are also "visitor dogs" (if that's the word ??) in hospitals, schools etc.

My dutch family includes :

Rente-Deux-Dents du Vallon des Serps (AKA Réglisse) : my old love, she will be 13 in november, daughter of Ringo V.D. Vastenow and Malte des Hyènes de la Sensée. We have shared so much together throughout the years that I can't tell you all about it here but I guess I'll open another topic for lots of photos and information on my dear dogs.

Dark Side des Fonds de Gueule : Son of Tam-Tam des Fonds de Gueule (son of Nico Van Neerland) and Baghera des Fonds de Gueule (sister of Brassaï FDG). Simply adores working and specially biting and is so calm, loving and gentle in every day life...

Frigg des Crocs de l'Olympe (AKA Gothic) : Daughter of Styx des Crocs de l'Olympe (son of Ringo V.D. Vastenow) and Boukhis II CDO (Daughter of Tarhun CDO, the 1st dutch shepherd to take part in a french ring final in 2006, son of Leiru). Mad biter (lol)) but just like my other dogs, extremely well balanced and good family dog as well.

For those who would like to see the pedigrees or photos, you can check my website : http://www.bergerhollandais.fr/

Well looking forward to reading more about you all on this forum and discovering lots about our favourite breed all over the world ! Have a nice day ! Speak soon !!

Tell us about yourself: Hi there.
I WILL be a new Dutch Shepherd owner on July 20th!!! Puppies are on the ground and a huge litter at 14! Very excited. I chose the Dutch because I like high drive dogs and my husband likes shepherds. We both have had GSDs in our past. I also am interested in search and rescue training. I live in the mountains of California and have two older Australian Shepherds. I do know that I have a job managing this pack. My husband is on board with it all. No kids. Both of us have flexible jobs. We are active folk but aging! ;-))
Still we mountain bike, hike, cross-country ski and my husband runs. I walk in the woods with the dogs 3 times a day and we are lucky to have US Forest right out the door. So that is it.

Bon Jour and Welcome Fred. Nice going through your website. Beautiful dogs. And you sound very accomplished! I am new to the forum and just waiting for my first every DS... who today turns 5 weeks old. ONLY 3 more weeks! I'm in California.

Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.

Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!

I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.

Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind.
Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32.
Can't wait for all the snow to get gone! Spring is coming too slow this year!
