Hello from Corpus Christi, Tx

My wife and I took a dog in off the street, for what was supposed to be a short time. Just to fix him up and get him a forever home.

Well he has been here a while and it looks like he may be here to stay.

Turns out that he's a Dutch Shepherd mix, and he's a wild child to say the least.

He doesn't respond to well to the way I tried my other dogs (I'm more used to Ridgebacks) so we met with a trainer that has done work with Dutch Shepherds before and we are gonna give that a try.

He's a pretty good dog when he's not bouncing off the walls! Absolutely house broken and has not destroyed anything but dog toys.

Its funny because my GSD Mix is very dog aggressive but really didnt bother this guy from the very start.

That part of the post probably made me sound cooler than I am. I am not training or asking much outta the dogs but basic manors and some sit / stay / heal.

Every other dog I have ever had, I just kinda showed them what I wanted and they pretty much did it with some practice.

This guy is more more hard headed.

At meal time, I did manage to get him to sit and stay until I tell him he can eat the food in front of him. If I could keep him that focused all the time I am pretty sure he could do algebra.

When I adopted my present DS, one of the issues we had to work on (and work on and work on) was focus and he's fine...just glad he doesn't have thumbs. (I stole the thumb thing from another member. It's very fitting for the breed.)
