New puppy coming in today!
Hey everyone! So I figured I would hop on here and announce the new puppy will be here this afternoon!!! I'll make sure I post some pictures tonight! I'm so excited!

- Tell us about yourself: My name is Ben. I've been a dog lover for my entire life. I currently own a GSD (Hopper) and a Boxer (Phoebe). They are my kids and best friends.
As far as DS's go, I've never owned one and this is the reason I'm here. I'm looking to learn more about the breed since I'm thinking of adding one to my family.

I WILL be a new Dutch Shepherd owner on July 20th!!! Puppies are on the ground and a huge litter at 14! Very excited. I chose the Dutch because I like high drive dogs and my husband likes shepherds. We both have had GSDs in our past. I also am interested in search and rescue training. I live in the mountains of California and have two older Australian Shepherds. I do know that I have a job managing this pack. My husband is on board with it all. No kids. Both of us have flexible jobs. We are active folk but aging! ;-))
Still we mountain bike, hike, cross-country ski and my husband runs. I walk in the woods with the dogs 3 times a day and we are lucky to have US Forest right out the door. So that is it.

Enjoy every minute of the puppy crazies and know that it all passes too quickly.. which is good and bad.

Very cute. Looking forward to any changes with coat pattern as the pup ages.
Stock up on good alcohol or take up Tai Chi or any combination of solid relaxation techniques.
No doubt we'll be hearing a lot more from you...but don't forget pictures.

Haha. Yeah she's pretty wild so far. Just got back from the vet's office. She's exactly 9 weeks old today, and weighed in at 18lbs. Everything turned out really good.

She's absolutely adorable! Enjoy the cute puppy days, they never seem to last long enough. Keep the pics coming! They're feeding my puppy pic addiction.
On a side note... it's nice to see another Robert Jordan fan. My bookshelf looks very similar.

Lol... I did kinda figure there'd be at least a bit of Star Wars in there too, since you named your pup Padme. My GSD Hopper actually was named for the wolf in the Wheel of Time.

Hey Benjamin. Ohhh I never even thought about that. That's a good choice for a GSD too. Yeah I went with Padme, and when I get a male, he'll be Anakin.

Thank you Selena! Yeah this puppy is a handful! And STUBBORN!!! 
So at 9 weeks, most puppies come running when you call their name excitedly, grab toys, etc. I call her name, do all of the above mentioned, and she looks at me like "Yeah right" and ignores me. I've never seen that from a puppy! And she is a total diva. Cracks me up.
And oh yes, Terry Goodkind is amazing. One of the best series I've ever read. I've 56 books in to the Star Wars series so far. Incredible story line. Yep everyone knows Padme was a total cradle robber, so I had to get Padme first, and in 2 years or so I'll get male. That's like 14 years in doggy time

Just reread my post... I'm not sure how one would "widen" a barn cat but I pretty sure I meant "wise". ipad auto correct does some strange things.

Thank you for all the congratulations. She's doing really good so far. And holy smokes is she smart. So far she's already learned sit, down, and we're working on stay today. When we go for walks and I stop, she automatically sits down next to me, and doesn't move until I take a step first. I've definitely never seen a 9 week old puppy like this before!
