Hello!

I'm 27 years old, female and own a white german shepherd from Alabama and since 1 year a Dutch shepherd called "Wega" (That's the name of the Austrian Special Police Unit).
The white one is my "familiy dog", the Dutchie is my working dog I'm working for a Security Company especially at big Events.

We're in Training for Mondioring and Wega likes it totally. He is a high drive Dog with lots of energy but in the house you don't feel him - a very pleasant dog :)

Wega's bloodline is "van de Vastenow", ("Ringo van de Vastenow": UV, VZH, IPO 3, FH 1, WH, Mondioring 3, Belgian Ring 4, TAT. RH-Tr, RH-FI)

I WILL be a new Dutch Shepherd owner on July 20th!!! Puppies are on the ground and a huge litter at 14! Very excited. I chose the Dutch because I like high drive dogs and my husband likes shepherds. We both have had GSDs in our past. I also am interested in search and rescue training. I live in the mountains of California and have two older Australian Shepherds. I do know that I have a job managing this pack. My husband is on board with it all. No kids. Both of us have flexible jobs. We are active folk but aging! ;-))
Still we mountain bike, hike, cross-country ski and my husband runs. I walk in the woods with the dogs 3 times a day and we are lucky to have US Forest right out the door. So that is it.

Tell us about yourself: I currently have 3 dogs - Akita, Dand and Doberman, all rescues. I am considering to get a 4th WORKING LINE dog earliest next year and are considering the following breed: Malinois or Dutch Shepherd. Articles would only give a general view, but none of the day to day life with a DS. I am joining this forum to have a good understanding of the breed.

Yes Ringo was a great dog ! I also work on his bloodline. I have a daughter of his and also a grand-daughter ! :D

He loves Frisbee, with his high prey drive working with him is so fun!

Congrats on the accomplishments!!!

Love the "tiger tongues" on these dogs.

Might be a good photo contest topic: tongues.

Rescued the smartest dog i had ever seen off nyc street in 2000. Tracedog's intelligence exceeded by multiples my judgement that day. My first [and only as of 10/2012] dog turned out to be a DS, perhaps with a touch of something else, but attention to detail, behavioral traits, and physical habits, movement, and skill identical to DS. But MUCH more intellectual ability. supremely confident in all settings, fearless, very outgoing and social with people and friendly with dogs. Seldom apart in over 12 years, Trace Dog was the most important relationship of my adult life; he was my partner. Thank you so much! At home he is so a calm sweet-hearted und cuddly dog..no other breed will enter my house in the future. Once a Dutchie, ever a Dutchie...I have lost my heart to this awesome dogs.

Hello from Hungary! I adopted a 3 yr old male, (maybe) DS mix from a flaying-house. His name is Rufus. He is very energetic and clever, but very aggressive against other dogs (mainly male dogs). R is exercising the correct social behaviours in mirror dog school. He is on a B.A.R.F. diet, and R likes it (especially the whole rabbits) :)
