Hi All,

I just wanted to say Hi and I've started my research on the DS.
I have a Czech line GSD that I train for Schutzhund. I love the sport even
though for me it's more for the fun of working with your dog then being on the
world team. My husband has been a dog trainer for 30+ years and he's the training
director for our club...training with your husband is like having him teach you how to
drive,lol! But seriously I didn't realize how small the gene pool seems to be and getting
a pure DS seems to be not so easy. I've seen some kennels here in the states and a few
in Holland that look interesting. Will do my research and anyone who can give me more info
to go by please feel free. I have my GSD and my husband has 2 Mals.

would love to see photos of your Mals and Czech GSD. what are their ages?

what do you want in a DS? soon?
several leading DS breeders [ USA and EU ] are active here. probably most active and informative and very respected in all ways is Christie M[eyer]; at least one of her dogs - about 1 1/2 yrs old - lives in brooklyn.

i live 1 hr. east of you on Shinnecock Bay. have 3 male DS - 2 about 1 year old, 3rd is 2 yrs old. 2 are rescues [ the oldest of which i suspect is not full DS - with some other shepherd mixed in] and 1 is from Chercar's may 4, 2013, litter.

You can browse through our "whatever", "behavior", and "puppies" sections to get a feel for our crazy brindled friends. Though I'm sure with a few Mals in the house you can relate to their craziness. I swear Hendrix thinks he's a Mal sometimes with his love of being upside down.

Christie Meyers and Megan Bay's are some great breeders on here. Also I would encourage you to look at my guy's breeder, Bunkerdogs USA. I am impressed every time I talk to Chris, though I know the same can be said for any reputable breeder, especially on here.

I already have a DS pup, got him from Markus Hampton who is a Schutzhund USA helper. He's a great traveler! We drove to and back from Buffalo to get him,lol, I didn't want him on the plane, lord knows why! My GSD is 3y, Sonny is 6 and Kaster is 18 mos. the mals are my husbands dogs. Our club is on LI, we used to be far out near Eastport, thank god we're closer in now by Plainview/old Bethpage area. I can see I like the breed very much and will eventually wind up with another. Did you see my other post I tried adding a picture IMG there,lol, don't know if it worked. Good luck to you with all your dogs, I guess they're like potato chips, just can't have one:)

Thank you all for the warm welcome:) Sorry if I wasn't clear about having a DS already. It's just that the breed is new to me. I'm sure I'll be asking you all questions from time to time and hopefully I'll be able to give some in put on other subjects here:)
Hellloooo Dutchringgirl!!! by any chance do you do ringsport? My hubs did belgian ring for 15 years, a favorite sport of his. Just no clubs around here at all.
And Thank you Owned-by-Hendrix, I like to know about good breeders. This guy learns so fast I love working with him! We always have multiple dogs here so I can see another DS in my future:)

HI!!!! I did do Ring Sport here in CT. My Husband [at the time] and I did with our Mal and DS. It was such a good time!! No clubs here either, I wish you were closer!

That is why my husband stopped because they were just competing against each other,lol, they had a club back then. there was some French Ring a friend of his used to go all the way up to Maine I think to compete quite a few years ago. It's the reason he got into Schutzhund. He is one of 2 training directors at our club. It's fun but the tracking can make you crazy, if you can find grass enough to do it!
