I have a 6 month old DS. She was 55.6 pounds at her vet appt two weeks ago and stands a bout mid thigh on me, 5'3". Her dad was 95 and mom was 67. Is she too big?

i woudnt say so, shes about 75-80% grown at this stage, my demon is 6 months too and when we had him weighed at five months he was 73lbs. heck knows how much he weighs now as he looks even bigger!

if you look in varieties-standards in general theres a post called "How large is your DS or Mal if you own one " with a lot of replies, if you read through you can see adult weights are very varied from dog to dog. she might be on the bigger end of the scale for a female but nothing too crazy :)

She'll probably be on the bigger side since her dad was 95... My dude's parents are 80 and 65 respectively, and he's expected to top out around 65-70 (currently 60 something). A good rule of thumb is a really rough average of the two parents, with some being smaller or bigger, depending on the lines/genetics. As long as the weight isn't fat (and it's generally hard to get a DS fat since they're so active), it's fine.
