Tell us about yourself: Howdy,
We are a family of rescues, (yeah, me included), in Southern California. My wife and I currently have two dogs, a Golden Retriever/ GSD mix by the name of Morgan, and our DS mix(?), Dinga Roo. We had never even heard of a Dutch Shepherd before until we were stalked by this nice lady in the pet store who asked us if Roo was a DS. Dang if that lady wasn't on to something. I just found this site, so here we are....

Not sure how to write this.....

Howdy y'all,
I know, it's been a while, life gets like that. I've really been trying to do a post or two here for several weeks now. The hardest one would be for Roo's "sister", Morgan. We had to put her down unexpectedly for some serious medical issues. It was a total shock and hit me way too deeply. I just didn't know how to write a memorium for her. Maybe later, but not now. It's been six weeks or so, and I still can't get through writing one. That's all I'm going to say about it.

Our daughter Nikol, being ever persistent, kept an eye out for a puppy for her mom. Mind you, we were settled on being a one dog family for the time being and were spoiling Roo stupid. Needless to say, Nikol cast the hook out far enough and we adopted a GSD named Kayda. We've had her for coming up on three weeks, she was born on Jan 2nd and is already up to 28 lbs. Yeah! Puppy!

Dinga Roo still isn't sure of what to make out of the youngster, but she is adapting to the older sister/mom dog role very well. I posted a few videos, and have some cell phone pics that I will try to get up later if y'all wish.

Thanks to all of you for letting us be a part of your family.

I'm sorry you had to put Morgan down. It is never an easy thing to do but if it is old age and everything that comes with that is the reason why at least you have a chance to prepare yourself.

Funny how that single dog family turned out. Your pup is GORGEOUS!! I'm so happy to see Roo playing with the pup. Enjoy!

Wow, so much I'd like to express in this limited form:
Very sorry to hear about Morgan. Just know that even if your sorrow remains unwritten, it is shared and understood by your friends here. You guys have been missed, and I'm glad to see you back. Looking forward to share the excitement of the new puppy and the great times ahead. I love the videos!

I'm going to steal the quote from Michael's signature, because it always makes me smile:
If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went. - Will Rogers

Thanks everyone, and thanks Michael for the video embedding.
Morgan was only 9, she had developed masses on her liver and spleen and was bleeding internally. It happened so fast and there was no time to prepare.

We adopted Roo and Morgan at the same time, they were sisters from other mothers.

I've always loved the Will Rogers quote.

Mark Twain said, "The dog is a gentleman; I hope to go to his heaven, not man's."
