What does my dog need?
I am sort of a new owner of my DS/GSD Mix. This is my first dog and it wasn't the wisest choice since I didn't know much about the breed. I am learning and managing her better now. What do you DS owners have for your dogs? Like must have items that are needed at your side. I am well aware of dog food, some treats, and tennis balls. Are there any toys? Collars? Leashes? Items that you recommend for my dog?

- Tell us about yourself: Over the past 25 years I shared my life with a Rott, two Akitas, and a Shepherd/Husky mix. I now have my first Dutch Shepherd. Lexi was born in early September 2014. She is great in so many different ways but I could use advice from some been there done that DS owners.
Re: What does my dog need?
Balls, balls, balls ... but not tennis balls. Lexi tears them apart I have some kong balls we roll around the house for her to chase. I also have others, lighter weight, we play catch and fetch with but after we are finished playing, they get put up so she doesn't destroy them there are also kong sticks she plays with under supervision she likes to put the big sq3aky stick and then a ball into her mouth at the same time. My vet recommended a local butcher that cuts bones special for dogs. That keeps her busy for a little while and the when it gets small I just pitch it peanut butter in a kong in the freezer over night will keep her busy too

- Tell us about yourself: I have a 12 week old dutch shepherd that my trainer got for me to train in schutzhund. This is my 1st dutch shepherd, I have always had german shepherds. Currently, I have 4 dogs.

It depends on what your dog likes. ICE's favorites are jolly balls, Kong wubbas and his bite pillow. The jolly balls are out in the yard for play whenever he wants but the others only come out when we are playing together. I also buy large stuffed animals at goodwill. These are used in the house and ICE likes to suck on them.

Re: What does my dog need?
I am constantly learning from my Dutchie as he keeps changing. Got Boaz when he was 12weeks and he just turned a year old. He likes variety and he likes New and different toys often. Then he will eventually go back to the old ones. He is very high drive and high energy. I would take him on two mile and a half walks every day and sometimes a third shorter walk. Plus we would play in the back yard three or four times, throwing and retrieving and tug. Reached a point where I could tell he was still missing something. So I got him a bite pillow and that was the ingredient he was missing. He needed something to get fierce and intense with. But as others have said, do not leave your dog unattended with this not even for five minutes.
