Lilah - Dutch Shepherd Mix?

Post by MollyandLilah »

Hi! I'm sure you get tons of people wanting to know if their brindle dog is a Dutch Shepherd Dog. I've had a brindle English bulldog before, so I know that many, many breeds can be brindle. However, I recently rescued a puppy from Florida, and the information given with her is that she is a Dutch Shepherd (probably mixed). I am interested to hear if you think she is or not. We plan to test her at some point, but I thought this was a good starting place. Thanks for your help!

- Lilah was born on February 25, 2016.

- Lilah is 38 pounds (August 25, 2016)

- Lilah is spayed, and was spayed at about two months old.

- Lilah is female.

- Lilah stands about 20 inches tall (foot to shoulder)

- Lilah is about 23 inches long (rump to shoulder blades)

The length measurements were taken with a ruler, so I'm not certain that they're 100% correct.

Let me know if I can offer more information, and thanks again for your opinions!

I generally shy away from giving a definitive answer to these posts, but something about the shape of the ears and eyes is telling me probably not.

It is an awesome looking dog however.

Thanks for rescuing and welcome to the forum.

BTW a standing side shot will help in the identification.

Lilah is very cute but, as you have read here brindle coats and erect ears do not make a Dutch Shepherd. I wouldn't put to much if any stock in what a rescue or shelter says unless it is a DS rescue. The DNA tests are not reliable when tracing a DS, save your money and buy her a toy she enjoys. Based on back round provided and her photos I would be almost certain she is not a DS.

I will ditto Multi, brindle and big ears dont make a DS. She could be a mix of so many breeds.
