Cautionary Tale - For Those Seeking DS as a Family Pet

Post by centrop67 »

Infant attacked by dog on Hamilton Mountain
The Hamilton Spectator wrote:The dog, a Dutch shepherd, attacked the child ...

"There were some injuries, to the legs it seems, and the child was taken to McMaster children's hospital," said Staff Sergeant Hastings.

The dog, he added, was removed from the home by Animal Control and will be quarantined for 10 days.

The same rules apply for any dog breed- you don't leave children unattended around animals.

Thankfully, the dog didn't bite the baby in the face or neck.

I'm curious. Do you have kids?

I do and, invariably, my kids ARE at times alone with my two German Shepherds. My won will be 14 in a few months and my daughter is 5. While I am not worried about the GSD's, I will NEVER leave my daughter alone with my Dutch, Patton.

There are lot of people who THINK they know their dog and, unfortunately, sometimes they find out they didn't when their dog mauls one of their kids.
