Thor's previous owner just sent more photos he found of a young Thor. The youngest of the photos had to have been mis-dated as it would have made him only a few weeks old and he was certainly not that in the photo. I'd guess that he might have been a few months old. (I don't do puppies, so....)
I'd posted on another occasion that the young Thor looked like an African wild dog with his markings, coloring and ears. This one very early baby photo, though, makes you wonder how his head EVER held up those GINORMOUS ears (BOING! straight up, too), but on the inside base there's nubs that remind me of out-ie bellybuttons, for lack of a better description. There's also "lumps" on the inside ear half-way up. One is more pronounced than the other.
Does anyone know what these things are and their purpose? He doesn't have the buttons or lumps now, but buttons (not the lumps) were also present in his juvey photos.
(In his baby photo, he is so alert, inquistive looking and insanely cute. His juvey photos show a very proud, confident, regal young man.)

I have grown up around working GSDs and my last GSD was a working K9 officer. I am all about dogs and animals in general and want to learn as much as I can about training.

I've tried everything to post pictures on this forum and in the signature, but can't. IT person says it's likely my computer. (VISTA--*#%#&$**--plus other internal problems.)
Actually, I double-checked Thor's ears and those buttons are still there...just difficult to see now.
Perhaps Christie or Judith knows????

Re: "Out-ie" Bellybuttons In The Ears?

i felt thalies ears at the base of the ear on the skull. I dont know if the picture helps, (ignore her greys LOL) there is a nub, at the arrow, not on the cartilage part of the ear, Is that what you mean?

Re: "Out-ie" Bellybuttons In The Ears?
The buttons are located on the back, low, inside of the ear, just at the base. They really stand out in his early baby and juvey photos. Your photo (thanks, by the way!),as you said, is in the ear, not on the cartilage, and aren't positioned on the back of the ear. Where Thor's are, it looks like someone glued a couple wooden plugs (or out-ie belly buttons) there. Clearly...at least thus far...this is weird.

Now i am super curiouse! I looked all over Thalies ears again, she always has that look of " oh.... ok..." no bumps. Sadie isnt to keen yet since i still have been fidgiting with the right one to stand so I have to wait untill she is passed out but so far, no bumps, unless its the one between her ears

Me too!! I have no idea what you are talking about. LOL. I don't know that I have seen them and I know I didn't notice them on him when I had him. I'm honestly not sure what would cause something like that.dutchringdog wrote:Now i am super curiouse!
