Tell us about yourself: I am a long time dog enthusiast but first time Dutch Shepherd owner. Logan is a KNPV bred Dutch Shepherd and great grandson of the great Arko Kikkert. He's by far the most demanding dog I've ever had but also by far the most rewarding.

Hahaha this thread makes me happy! Great to hear that we're not the only ones constantly being stopped by random motorists or pedestrians so they can say "What kind of dog is that?"

I have always wanted to say, "a clever one" when someone asks me "what kind of dog is that?" but I never get the question phrased right to reply. Usually its "what is he?" to which I respond if he's being a twit "bratty" or if he's being good "right now a good boy". Then again I like confusing random strangers some days. :D

Tell us about yourself: First Dutch owned. Was bought for my daughter and the family. Currently going through obedience classes. I am former military and currently working for a law enforcement agency. Have had labs most of my life and a friend introduced me to his Dutch and my family fell in love. Our current one is a female named pepper and is just now 3 months old. I would like to possibly train her for search and rescue

Tell us about yourself: Howdy,
We are a family of rescues, (yeah, me included), in Southern California. My wife and I currently have two dogs, a Golden Retriever/ GSD mix by the name of Morgan, and our DS mix(?), Dinga Roo. We had never even heard of a Dutch Shepherd before until we were stalked by this nice lady in the pet store who asked us if Roo was a DS. Dang if that lady wasn't on to something. I just found this site, so here we are....

Dutch Shepherd....
The only dog that doesn't need thumbs to rule the world....
Kevin, Debby,
Dinga Roo (DS mix), John's Goddaughter and Tyson's twin,
and Morgan too (Retriever/GSD mix).
Loving memories of our GSD Charly who passed at 17 years. (4/18/13).

Dual shirts idea from Casey:

Handler's shirt: I need rest.
DS shirt: I don't need no stinkin' rest!

Tell us about yourself: Rescued a dumped DS puppy from the freeway and found his littermate in a nearby shelter two weeks later.

"those are the weirdest looking Pitbulls I've ever seen. Why are they so small?"

Really, dude?

Ok. I would neveR .....NEVER suggest this breed for a pet , BUT mine is pretty close. If you cast stones... I will catch them and toss them back.
I do know first and foremost my girl is like a loaded weapon. I will take all necessary precautions. However, we cuddle, I massage her, we play, we frolic, and try to stay obedient. All said with lighthearted fun.
