Tell us about yourself: Grace = Best Girl

Hello world

Post by PhillipJFry »

Well, after about a year or so of lurking it's about time I actually join. Adopted my girl, Grace, in November of 2018 and have been learning a lot since. We have our basic and intermediate obedience down and are working towards CGC as well as training for our Odor Recognition Test with NACSW. Mulling over branching into protection training, not to compete but just for advanced obedience and something else to do. Working on her skills and her confidence while making progress on some leash reactivity at the same time.

I look forward to learning even more from all of you!

@Tim91118 Yeah, my trainer has 2 Malinois that are competitive in the local IPO circuit and she's spoken to me about it before. We're trying to set up a time for Grace to go up by the trainer that my trainer uses to get an evaluation done before we start the training. We'll give it a shot and see how it goes. If Grace loves it then maybe that will take over as the primary instead of nose work.

@SEL We've been doing nose work training for about 5 or 6 months now and Grace has been doing splendidly. When I get her going and she really hooks into the task there's no stopping her.
