What's in a Name

Post by ladyjubilee »

Why did pick your dog's name?

Bramble's name is pretty straightforward. Her her brindle stripes look like sunlight filtering onto a dog laying in a bramble.

My last girl was Gotcha...as it took two 3 hour drives, one of which could have gotten me in trouble with the courts to go get her.

We also had Snuggles, a teeny tiny 89 lbs lap dog boxer lab mix. People always assumed he was some ferocious pit that as one guy said, "would tear your arm off."

Rogue. Well hubby picked it. Don’t know why. (She’s my dog but
I let him name her. ) I told him I was fine with it because Sarah Palins first book was titled, “Going Rogue”. Rogues name is actually Rogue Palin in her honor.

Endeavor was named by her original owner. I got the impression that she was named along the same reasoning lines as I named my Shiloh Shepherd Aurora, registered name "Dawn of all Adventure"... Which reminds me, I should update my signature here 🙄.
Regardless of who named her, Endeavor has been a good name. We are running headlong into life with goals fixed in our sights.

Changing the subject slightly my eldest son Ryan who is seven years older than the youngest son chose his name which was REX. So that’s what the youngest was called. I think Rex was the one that called the dog Pepsi, i see a theme. Jay

I liked reading how each pup got the name they have.

Radar was called "Goofy" at the shelter (probably something to do with the big ears).

I was all set to name him Ragnar.

My mom mentioned how his ears were radar-like (yes, ears again) and voila - his name was born.

My wife is from the Netherlands so I chose a Dutch name for my female Dutch Shepherd. Her name is Anja which is pronounced Anya

I keep a list of names I like (mostly because I used to dip my toe into writing fiction, not so much anymore), I picked Shylah's name off that list just because it felt the best
Shota (show ta) was named from a character in a series of books I like, cus I wanted another unique S name
