Xena is sick.

:( My poor little girl just refused food for the first time in her life. Food is her world. She ate this morning just fine, but when I brought her dinner she looked at it and threw up a ton of water. several times. I have her all tucked into her bed with a blanket and I sure hope she is feeling better soon.

She was happy and active all day. I don't know that she could have gotten into anything, since we were together, but she ate a big old chicken leg quarter for breakfast... She has that at least 4 times a week. I have been feeding raw to my cats for over 2 years and my other dog for almost a year, but it still freaks me out when an animal is "off" at my house. For the praying types please send out a little prayer, if she is not better by morning, we are going to the vet.

I do hope she feels better. We also feed a combination of raw and kibble and there is no reason that it should be causing this problem. Please let us know how things progress.

Whew, she is all better this morning. :P

I think that she may have gotten a toad. There was one in the yard where we were working (she went with us) and a few minutes later she was foaming at the mouth. Usually after the foamy incident, they don't ever touch another toad.... but when i looked up the symptoms of what would happen if she actually ate it, they mirrored her condition pretty well: Vomiting, small fever, shaking.

The cats are all looking at her like, " ugh. she's back." :ds:

Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.

Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!

I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.

Oh yes, I have had toad episodes here as well. In the end the toad still won. ;)
Quite a sight, isn't it? All that foam, dripping form the dogs mouth, retching to rectify the mistake?
