THC can easily be detected in either blood or urine.

the active chemical is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
Pets are most frequently exposed when they ingest baked products with this drug as an ingredient, eat the remains of marijuana cigarettes, or otherwise get into somebody’s “stash”.

Most animals recover fully following treatment and death occurs rarely.

But they might have the urge to wear ty dye clothing ( couln't resist)

I have a hard time believing that a dog would have such a reaction to a natural dried plant. It's not like she was chewing on datura leaves or something. I still have my doubts. (despite an occasional vet who says such and such) But it is certainly worthy of more research on my behalf.

With that being said. The ty dye look of our brindles might be an indication that the are more prone to being users? (could not resist that either, in light of the above remark)

Not to mention their roots, afterall they are Dutch, and like all Dutch wear wooden shoes, everyone also smokes (or eats) pot

There are lots of things that are dangerous if injested...like pointsettias, raisons, some mushrooms or berries.

Sorry, I just couldnt resist (I was a teenager in the Flower Child -- Hippie era).

Seriously though, I was telling a k9 handler friend of mine about Sugar's incident and she said that it could have been a host of things, narcotic, with all of the varities the kids are coming up with these days, esp made to look/taste like candy. Either way, this is a lesson for us all to be observant so thank you for sharing.. Glad Sugar is doing well.

Yeah, you're right. I know all my brindles wear wooden shoes. But paws off, the pot's mine!

True denise. They spike some light stuff (like pot) with formaldehyde for a bigger kick. Get a hold of that and you might make a good looking corpse?

I have no clue. I would not even know where to get drugs (for the record: I help find it, but I don't use it) and yet kids seem to be very capable of getting their hands on that too. I guess it all comes in from their suppliers? Scary though, very scary.

The Dollar General stores now sell THC detection tests. They are right next to the $1 pregnancy tests

I wonder if they would work on other species? I would assume that they would if it is just testing for the chemical presence. Hmmmmmmmmm

Christie, very sad, but good to know. I have 2 grandsons (14 & 15), just through a parental breakup, and maybe random checks wouldn't be a bad thing. (keep them on their toes). Basically both very good kids, but ya never know----even in this small town. ( But if they should get some girl preg./start drugging, I may have to kill them.)
