I go biking every morning with both dogs (it's pretty flat here ) First part they are on-leash, it's a rule in Germany in the village/town, where the buildings end and fields start they can be off leash. Mine are not behind me all the time like in the video, they run ahead, sniff, somewehere as I pass them, then sprint to get back to me again. It's the ideal way to get them tired in the morning before I go to work. With Ivil I also do some bikejöring, just for fun. She LOVES that

The springer attachment looks like a neat thing, but I really dont want my dog attached to me. If for some reason the dog decides to give a good jerking run or something, I dont want to be taken down. Id rather have them have a solid recall and heal to the bike and just have the leash on for the law.

That was Mark's concerned too, but he read that it is designed to "break" away. We'll see........

I watched the video, It does look like it breaks away pretty quick and easy. Im still in the school of teach them a good heal and recall.

It depends on where you are riding...if it is an off leash area or on the street where a leash is necessary. This looks like it would be a great tool for when a leashed dog is needed.

Years ago, my GSD and I trained for the Schutzhund AD which is a 12 mile bike ride. During training, she was leashed and it only took her one time to accidently get run over with the bike that she heeded my command to heel. And we actually did pass the AD at trial time!! I also used to trail ride (bike) in the National Forest nearby with my first GSD years ago, off lead and it was a blast. She would blaze the trail!

I've never tried the Springer, but betting it works well.

On attaching the dog to your bike, I use a bungee rope, and a safety snap. One pull and the dog is off leash, the bungee absorbs sudden pulls, better for both dog and biker
