He sure is a gorgeous boy !
Any idea of his pedigree or the lines that he comes from ?
Only ask because this photo makes him look like a GSD x DS.
( looks like he has a black saddle type color going on )
Could easily be a deceptive photo but inquiring minds have to ask :)
He sure looks healthy.
You guys are going to have years of fun together :D

Good job with the ears !
Looks like it won't take much help to get them standing.
Yes, a lot of dogs that have ears that stand up, will have the ears get weak and/or floppy during teething.

The people we got him from said both his parents were DS but I can see what you mean by his coloring. We thought he was a little on the thin side when we got him and we took him to PetSmart yesterday (he was AWESOME in the car) and his weight was 42lbs. We were surprised, because he looked so thin. But just since we have had him his ribs have become a little less visible. I'm sure he will bulk up. His ear is flopping part of the time and standing part of the time now. We will probably tape them again in a few days just to help them along. He doesn't seem to mind too badly. He's well behaved so far, except for the issues with him using his crate for a potty when we leave the home. But we are working on that. We have decided against the name Rollo. We tried it for a day or so and it just didn't feel right. So we are back to the drawing board now. The short list so far includes:

Chase
Smokey
Basil
Ziggy
Jasper
Koda
Loki
Payton (our sons name is Eli)
Roscoe

It's a tough choice..

Looking forward to more photos of the handsome boy :)
You sure got lucky to get him ( and he was lucky to get you guys as his family ! )
He sounds like a gem. ( I'm sure you'll have the crate/potty issue resolved soon )

I like "Basil" from your list so it gets my vote :D

Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.

Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!

I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.
