A ton of people stop us and ask what kind of dog she is. I have an older neighbor up the street who used to raise and show Irish setters ( talk about  ). He asked what she might a mix of. I told him a Dutch Shepherd and a Dutch Shepherd. :D

He said, A DUTCH Shepherd??? Yeah and I am a pure English Bull hound...... Then we both mentioned UKC.

But, regardless, Xena wowed all the coffee shop regulars. She was very well behaved. She LOVES everyone. I know that is not proper for a guard dog, but I gotta say that her being super friendly comes in handy ALL of the time. The few calls that she made where she didn't like the person I agreed with! :borg:

Oh, and at the herding clinic the lady said; (Think southern accent. NC foothills) "Yeah, we had a Dingo lookin' dog in here..owner said it was a LONG haired Dutch Shepherd  . Like they MAKE those... Said it was rare in the US. I said 'I bet!'."

I assured her that their were short, long and curly coated DS. So now I think she thinks I am crazy too. :yernuts:

More  for me!

I think DS are very pleasant to look at, such a natural looking dog with alert expression, very nice in proportions, not to small, not to big, with nice movement etc. But it's good not everybody likes them, I think it's always bad for the breed if it becomes too popular :dsrazz:

So true.. just looks at what has happened to German Shepherds!

Dutchringgirl wrote:Well, there are some funny looking dogs out there, I grew up with Basset hounds! Good, let people hate them, then they wont be over bread. I saw an issue of one of the tabloids, one actress had a Mal, and the controversy was over the dog kissing the boyfriend. My first thought was " oh great" If SHE has one, others will want one too.

When I was younger I always thought Basset hounds were Bloodhounds born with only half of their legs Haha! I saw that tabloid about the actress kissing her dog too, I kiss my dog all the time also and even my cats (even though they hate me), hopefully no irresponsible owner gets there hands :( on one!

Lol Yes I know by now that they are a totally different breed, and they have their entire legs but they are just really tiny.
