..this breeding thing.
I've been waiting putting this on-line untill I had reached the puppy-buyers (one was away for the weekend)
but we lost 2 pups
One female, don't have a clue what was wrong, something inside the belly. She was in pain, clearly. Even took her to my vet, everything (hart, longues, stomach) seemed to sound ok. Maybe just bad luck, getting to the wrong nipple a couple of times and got weak? So we tried force-feeding (what is that called Judith?? Sonde voeding?) some milk, she died 15 min. later.

It is sad, but then again, that is how it goes with dogs. It's natural, and I feel it's ok like this. Ivil is still very happy and proud, the 7 pups left are growing like idiots (no wonder, what a life!)

Cr@p. I am sorry to hear that. I will always maintain that I read somewhere once, that on average 10% of a litter does not make weaning age. Most breeders will at first say that they fare much better. Until you start to think about it. Still born, loss in the first 10 days and who knows what else, but it often adds up to that number. I am sorry for you. Best of luck with your remaining septuplets.

Sorry to hear this news, I know how hard it is to loose pups. It is all part of breeding, that's true, but it never seems to get easier when you loose them. (Nor should it- -or you should just quit IMO.) You can Tube Feed, provide warmth, etc. but mother nature always has her way. (Sometimes for the best.)

Sorry to hear but as we all know its part of life. Sh%*t happens. Glad the others are doing well.

Judith may remember the details...With Cino's litter I think Roya laid on top of one. At the time I thought I would never forget about his litter mate that was lost. It is heartbreaking to have it happen.

It is part of breeding, like so many here already said. It is true, at the time it happens, you cannot imagine that you will ever forget. But you do! I did not remember that Deb's Roya lost one pup. I do remember that there was one female that Nico had been bred to, that killed, or so I was told, all 10 of the babies. That I have never forgotten and I will plead guilty to the fact that I did refuse a second breeding to that b*tch. I know some things are part of nature, but usually not when they are 10 days old. No telling what caused it, but I did not risk that feeling of disgust and helplessness again.

Sadly, this happens. When I picked up Boaz, I heard there were 2 litters in The Netherlands where all the puppies died except one puppy from one litter. Fortunately, the mothers were okay. I could not do it, myself.

That was only one litter, and it was my Dingo's sister's 4th and last litter. The first pup was stuck in the birth canal, stopping the other ones in the cue...
They had to operate real quick, and take all pups out. Only one of the 8 pups made it, the others had been stuck for too long
The previous 3 litters had been without any problem...

Anyway, I'm totally over it, that's how it goes, and you know this if you start breeding

Sorry to hear about the pups marjolein, it's always a shame, but I'm glad you've got over it and the rest of the litter are doing well.
