Zip is obsessed with anything foreign in the yard. After a storm, she is cleaning up the limbs that were down. I didnt think she could move these but she dragged them all over til I intercepted. Silly dog!

That log was definitely up to no good! She is a good judge of character!

I could actually use her skills. Xena WIll dig a hole for me if I ask, but she refuses to help me clean up debris!

Did she think they were additional chew toys you bought for her? Because the obvious answer is probably to move everything inside. Haha

I purposely left some branches in the yard for Sadie to drag around. Its like having free new toys around.

I let Geyser drag around any braches she can carry/drag when we're not in the yard proper (my landpeople have 87 acres here that we use daily), but I don't let her bring them into the yard, as she just loves to chomp on down on them.

She will help on clean up after a storm, tho, as long as she gets to chase her hollee ball as a reward

If you can teach her to pile that, I could use her help with some firewood.

The same behavior here. I don't mind the offers to help gather firewood, but instead of piling or sorting, (yes, I sort firewood) they scatter is all over. I will say that I get some nice finds from the back 70 brought rigth to the yard, but the piles in the yard also get picked from, and I will find some of it back in the woods.
MY first malinois was a joy when doing hard work in the yard. I could point at a stubborn (tree) root and have him yank it out for me. He died at the ripe age of 16 many years ago, but I still miss his help every time I have a hard project in the yard. Currently noboby to fill those particular paws.

Dingo enjoys a little pruning, when he was younger he once tore out a half-rotten tree that was still standing...well, before he saw it that is...
He also insists on big logs, he refuses to carry a normal sized stick, it has to be heavy and odd-shaped

That is exactly why my wood is stacked inside a dog kennel that the dogs don't use in the winter.

Seriously though, I have a small fenced area to protect items that I want neither the dogs or the horses to destroy. I'd have to say the horses are just as destructive in most cases. Just last week, I propped a couple of shovels and rakes by the storage building and one of the horses stomped all the posts breaking all of them in half. Not sure what possessed him to do that.

The horse just wanted to make sure you could no longer chase him around the pasture with a stick in hand.

Yeh Judith, after I reread my post, realized it might give that impression! No, I truthfully do not beat them although they infuriate me sometimes. Never had my own horses til this year and learned quickly how destructive they can be. I havent even tallied the costs of damage to the kennels, buildings, fencing... Needless to say, they now have full run of the adjacent 130 acres of a pasture owned by a friend and they no longer have access to my little farm.
