Probably Not Realistic but....

I was just posting in an Intro thread welcoming someone from N Illinois, and it occurred to me. We could do a DS get together without someone having to schedule, organize and deal with it all (I hosted 2 many years ago, and even though they were small - it cost an arm and a leg and WAS HARD).

We could all utilize something like Camp Dogwood (www.campdogwood.com) in N Illinois. It would be a bit more costly for people, but lodging and food for the whole weekend is included. People that know each other on line could bunk together and lower costs that way. There are SO many activities available. I teach agility, but there is herding, flyball, lure course, dock diving, treat making, crate mat making, massages for both species, info on herbal remedies, an animal communicator. Everything.

Anyway, just a thought. I'm committed because I will already be there! But is anyone else game. I'm sure there are similar camps on the west to that dutch could invade and get together.

Now that's funny! You can take the girl out of Michigan but you can NEVER take the Michigan out of the girl.

I think you would be surprised Leih. Every possible sport is available to play (I forgot to mention rally and treiball) except for the bite sports. Dogs that need extra space (Willow for instance, in her younger years) wear an orange bandana and everyone knows to respect it. I usually take Willow, used to take Miles  , and have often taken a rescue or two that could use some socialization or atleast opportunities to work on not being reactive. I think they make it easy for all dogs to be successful and have fun with owners.

Its always Memorial Day Weekend.

Everyone gets there Friday afternoon (unless you do extended camp, which starts Thursday AM) and there is food and orientation. Saturday and Sunday, there are 4 activity periods where a variety of things are offered and you choose. Then every evening there is a social activity, which typically I bail on :-) There are some nice restaurants in the area where we frequent instead :-) A Mexican restaurant on the water with AWESOME margaritas..... etc. Monday there are 2 activity periods, lunch and a small third with few activities offered.

I have attached a copy of one of my schedules from previous camps so you can get an idea. Keep in mind, this is a staff schedule - so there are some things on there that don't apply to campers :-) They don't expect Campers to help set up the silent auction.....

Well, crap it won't let me. I'll ask Eric for help.

But it does sound great!!! It would be a lot closer for Leih and I if you just had us come to your house, Christie
