Signed Odin up for basic OB and manners. Class starts on March 7th and are once a week for 4 wks. Should be fun and will be great for me. I think I need it more than he does :help:

That's the whole point! You learn how to train your dog and (assuming a good trainer/instructor) get lots of good feedback about how to improve your chops.

The other reason to take classes, even if your dog already knows the content, is working your dog around other dogs who are either under control or "safe" (leashed, at the very least).

You'll love it! And I bet he will too.

We expect reports!

Just being in a class environment teaches them to be a lot politer and tolerant of weird stuff going on around them. Excited for you two!

Odin is doing really well in his basic ob and manners class. It's actually too basic for him, but it's good for both of us and it's a required class if I want to do more classes with him.
It was suggested that we take the dog therapy class in the next several months along with the test to see if he can become a certified therapy dog!! The instructors love his calm temperment  and how friendly he is. I think that would be really cool and rewarding.

That is so awesome, that a rescue may go on to be an ambassador for the breed AND for rescue dogs!!! I bet you're so proud your buttons are poppin!

Yes, we are very proud!! I have confidence in him that he will do great in class and pass the test.

Ambassador for the DS is so awesome!! No one in class knew what breed he was. Several asked if he was a greyhound  . They looked at me with a blank look on their faces :duh: when I said Dutch Shepherd.

How cool that class is going so well, and that he's suggested as a therapy dog! DOes he like greeting strangers and being petted by them? As long as he likes that knd of stuff, great!!! (also, nothing to stop y9ou from going thru the certification even if you never end up using it; just another credential to have....wait until you can start adding those initials of certificates and such behind his name  )
