We were on our usual trail walk on Saturday. The dogs have a funny routine, Halo bushwhacks, Diesel runs along the trail trying to find her!
Anyway, Halo goes darting into the bush and suddenly a massive Falcon flies away and then I see a beautiful white bunny running off in the bushes. So by Halo trying to kill the bunny, she ended up saving its life from the falcon.
Before I left the house I was trying to decide if I wanted to carry my camera with me, I decided not to bring it...figures!
I felt bad for the falcon later, it was probably stalking that bunny for a while.

Lucky day for the bunny!

White bunny? Oh my, someone's pet got loose. Glad he escaped both the falcon and Halo on the same day. Whew.
I still feel bad about NOT saving a life the other day.
I was scooping poop and filling waters in the (empty) kennels while the dogs were on the trail with my husband. Had boots on (phew) when I spotted something moving. A snake. I was about to get defensive, but it was moving away from me. But then it turned, right back in my direction. I raise my scooper for a good whack and it moves away before my swing. But now I see what happened. The snake had a fat toad by one leg. Toad is not moving at all. Dead or stunned, I don't know. I wanted the (yellow bellied water snake: non poisonous) snake to drop it anyway. He was already big and fat and I don't like snakes anyway, though I tolerate them if they are non poisonous, but you cannot commit toad-o-cide right in front of me. I never managed to get him to let go though. Every time I hunted the snake down under the next bush, the toad was a little more ingested. In the end, the toad and me lost. *snif* (and my hoe was too far away or the snake would have lost along with the toad, but I would have won)

White Bunny could have been a Snowshoe that hadn't shed the winter camo yet. Anyway--glad it got saved.
Snowshoe are getting pretty rare in my neck of the woods, just little Cottontails mostly now.

Can you tell I am living in the deep south? Duh.... (Of course white bunnies happen up north. Geez, where is my brain?)

We don't have any snakes this far north ...but we do have frogs...I've never seen one here though.
Yes, the bunnies here have a white winter coat and they are extremely hard to see. I can see their tracks and poop everywhere though!
We also have a funny partridge-like bird called Ptarmigan which also have a white winter coat...Halo just loooves to chase them! They are dumb little birds, they like to hang out on the road (camouflaging) and refuse to get out of the way when you drive by.
