Joep his second show

Yesterday we went to the traditional Easter Dogshow at the Dutch city of Leeuwaren whch is not far from where we live and. http://www.paashondenshow.nl/nl/
It was the second time for me and Joep and it was our goal to try to get his second point to become Youth champion. In order to win this title he had to get an " 1 Excellent" for qualification but instead he got a "Very Good" which doesn't bring any points for the title. At first I was very disappointed but after a while I realized this can happen of course so now we are looking forward to the next dogshow in order to give it another try. And for me it was a good lesson because now I understand once more that dogs can be unpredictable. Just short before the examination took place I thit some practizing with him and he did just great which gave me a lot of confidence. But when it was our turn he was hard to handle and all he wanted to do was to play whit his leash and with me. So I wasn't able to show him well which was a good lesson for me to remember the next time. All together we had a great day watching very nice looking dogs and meeting a lot of nice people.
This was the comment at his report:
Masculin head, correct bite and pigmentation, well set of ears, good neck and topline, enough body and bones for age.
Normal angulated shoulder and upperarm, falling over the croup, slightly low set tail, moves nicely when he wants to.
But would like to see a bit more drive behind, good coat and temperament.

The winning dog in was btw Pukiq Denahy Van Treekzicht, a very nice looking and friendly dog (owned by M.M. van de Lieftink Berg, NHSB 2823640). He got a 1U CAC.

Sorry to hear that you didn't get the Excellent that you wanted, but sounds like you still had fun and good practice/learning experience. I can't imagine the focus that dogs need to have to be able to show, with all the distractions and all...he got some nice comments in his report.

You both had a good time, right? So next time will be better, and you are both getting experience. He's still young (and beautiful), so nothing to be disappointed about.

Oh, that's a bummer! Well, consider it practice for the next show. Boaz didn't do well until he was older and more masculine.

Are you going to be at Ruwhaar Fandag? I'm going to try, I won't know until August.

You're right. My disappointment went away very soon, now I'm very happy with the result and it was a good lesson for me. I'm already looking forward to the next show and in between we continue working with him at the dogschool and enjoy him (and the ohter two) eacg and every day.

And maybe I will be more relaxed. The thing is that two days before the show my nother died and I think our dog has senced something about me. Yesterday there was her funeral.
