What does everyone feed their dogs? I've been feeding my boy "taste of the wild" which has venison, moose and some other crap in it. I notice recently that he just doesn't want to eat it so I'm looking for ideas. What about pedigree stuff?

Put the bowl down for him, if he walks away pick it up until the next meal. If you start playing games with food you will play them forever. If you think there could be a health issue then get to the Vet.

Please, dont feed your dog Pedigree and other supermarket food. Those are basically corn, grease and chemicals.

We feed Orijen, the regular adult bag. In Chicago, I get a 15lb bag for around $35. It's a bit expensive, but it costs less than Fromm (I tried that with my other dogs) and I'm only feeding Odin 3 cups a day, compared to about 5 cups that we'd have to feed if on Pedigree or another grocery store brand. We started out on Raw, but I had a lot of mixed results that were probably due to user error .

The Orijen is working great for us, and Odin's finally gained some weight after 2 bags woohoo! He hit 59.5lbs last week at the vet, he only has 3-4 to go until he's a lean ideal weight. I've had a lot of friends and trainers that have great success on it as well. Luckily, he'll eat anything, so it's just a matter of what makes him healthier and stops the itching.

I'm curious as to why you would downgrade from a 4-5 star, grain-free food to a 1 star food like Pedigree? If you don't want to do the tough love thing the others suggested (although I agree with that suggestion), why not rotate to another flavor of TOTW?

I was just shooting pedigree out there. I went to agway and bought his old dog food that he grew up on "Eukanuba" I filled his bowl, made him stay by it while I put things away. I finally told him to eat and he ate the entire bowl.

I do take his food away if he doesn't eat it, he's went a few days without eating his food. I would let him out and he would start eating his own poop and our other dogs poop. The smell of the taste of the wild product is very different than this Eukanuba feed. The taste of the wild smells like real meat, I don't know why he wouldn't touch it. The other dogs would kill for it I'll see how this bag of dog food goes, just need him to eat and be normal. The other dogs are never this picky, then again he's only 10 months old so he's a puppy still

Roxie is still on Iams puppy food right now. I tried to add something better, think it was Blue. She was sick all the next day. She is so skinny. I can see her little hip bones sticking out. If anyone has any ideas of something she could possibly digest and add a little weight, I'm all ears.

Has she been checked for parasites?

Also, I never use "Puppy Formula" foods, try something for All Life Stages. Honest Kitchen with some added meat maybe. They have 4 formula's for "all stages" if I recall correctly. You don't have to add meat to some of them but most folks do anyway.

Others like Orijen. If you're dead set on using a kibble formula they have a decent product.

Cow bones and fatty hip bones will help put the weight on her.

She was at the shelter and she will be checked again Friday. She has also been given Interceptor. I'm a little concerned that she's such a quiet puppy. Not complaining.....just very weird that she hasn't been driving us crazy yet. Ya know? I've kept her on what the shelter was feeding because she seems to have a sensitive stomach.

You could have a very sick pup if she was exposed to parvo or something at the shelter. I'd be heading for the vet's office. Healthy pups are not often described as Quiet. Do you know how to take her temperature?

Large weight bearing beef bones can cause fractured / broken teeth.

Never had an issue with them, I can say one thing. Those treats they make from bull penis smell awful when they're getting chewed on!

Very true, smells reminiscent of anal glands, but I'm not worried about blockage as much as with other things (bones, etc).

I feed Honest Kitchen and Wellness.

Roxie should see a vet - is she quiet like lethargic quiet? Or just not a barky pup?

She has bursts of energy. She plasters herself on the sliding glass door when she wants in. She plays with Emmy (small dog) for a few minutes and that's just about it. Like right now she is lying next to me on the bed. She didn't get a lot of play time because my granddaughter was here most of the day. She should be driving us insane! When we first brought her home we just thought she needed to get used to us but we adopted her on Apr 5. She should be used to us by now. We should have to get onto her for chewing things and knocking over the little one, basic puppy with no manners things. I am thinking about cancelling her appointment and taking her earlier. She eats great and potties fine.

definitely have her poop checked. When we adopted Dakota from the shelter, she had so many parasites/worms and without have her stool checked, we would have never known. Poor girl, it took about 9 months to totally get rid of every one of those suckers because they would go dormant and then reappear in 3 months

Don't take any chances with your baby - she probably needs a complete check over from your vet.

Take her in, Sadie was non stop, I really mean non stop, play unless she was in her crate.

I am taking her in. Going to try to get the stool sample tomorrow after work. My older daughter and granddaughter was here tonight again.... She did play a little more tonight. She tried to initiate play with the old lady dog and with the cat. Still not as much as a young puppy should though.

Frustration!!!!!!! Koda hasn't ate in two days. The gf fed him this morning (rice and lamb Purina One) and he woofed that right down. He will not eat his taste of the wild food, the other dogs will eat that stuff with no issues at all. I've separated the dogs and let one eat and then let Koda eat but he doesn't, he walks away (so his food goes away). When he goes outside he's resorting to grass and poop whatever he can eat. I put an end to that as well and just walk over what he's trying to eat and removed the poop. I've witness him sit in the corner and watch the other dogs eat and then he slowly walks in and eats. Which I walk over and pick up the bowl of food. I don't know if this is a dominance thing and he's trying to adjust with the new dogs and gf. It seems like he's challenging me because if I put the food down he looks away from me. If the gf does this he barges right in and eats it. I always make him sit and wait by his food until I tell him to eat.

What I'm trying to understand is why does he HAVE to eat from another dogs bowl. His bowl is loaded with food and he will not touch it. I've left his bowl there once and another dog came over and was eating it. Koda ran into the room and saw it.. then sat there and watched.

Do the other food bowls always contain something other than Taste of the Wild? If so, then just switch him. See if he gets sick of that too.

Dogs always want something another dog has.
