HD Sucks

I bet you're expecting me to say that Geyser has HD.
Nope.
It's me.
Went in for a check-up on the new hip today, and was so glad because the other hip has deteriorated since I had my last cortisone injection. Even had to break out the crutches this weekend. But, no big deal, as I know I'll be managing this hip with several injections a year, and I couldn't wait to get one today.
So, I asked my doc, "what exactly is wrong with my right hip; is it arthritis?" He said he'd check it out and left the room (he either consulted my MRI or Xrays or both). When he returned, he was smiling..."well, you do have some arthritis in that hip, but you also have mild hip displasia...just like in dogs" (he knows I'm a dog person

). I had to laugh.
Guess I wouldn't pass an OFA, eh?

aww bummer! now what? Another hip cannot be done untill the first one has fully healed or what? Or can you manage with the injections for a few years

Sounds painfull, just like it is for dogs

So here's the vet tech in me. LOL.
Is it laxity? Or a malformed joint? Arthritis developing in the joint capsule? Did they go into that much detail with you?

Malformed joint. The arthritis is in the joint, not exactly sure where...
(the other questions...)
Nope, will just keep the original hip until the injections no longer do the trick
Sure, let's compare Xrays! (what a blast, eh?

)

Well dog gone it! Last I saw, you were up and almost running. Just a little setback hopefully. Keep the spirit and faith.

Thanks, D.
It's really aggravating me that the last injection, last week, isn't working as well as the former ones did.

Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble! Could it be that you are using that side more now to compensate while you recover from surgery to the other hip? Maybe just aggravated it enough to cause a temporary setback?

No, don't think so. My new hip is doing so amazingly well, it's unbelieveable. No favoring or anything going on at all by now.
It's so ironic that the new one is doing so great, not hurting at all when I walk an such, while the other one is now making me nuts
