Disclaimer: I am not one of the i di ots that watch FoxNews, for any form of information. I apologise if this offends anyone.

Having said that, somehow my television got tuned to FoxNews as I was getting ready for work this morning. There was a segment featuring search and rescue dogs airing. A lab mix, a golden retriever, and a 4 month old Dutch, they referred to her as a Shepard, not as a Dutch, but you just cant hide that black face and those beautiful brindle coats.

Go Dutch.

Good catch John!

That awesome pup was bred by Asheley Winters of Vrijheid Dutch Shepherds in Salt Lake City Utah! Truly awesome girl who is destined for greatness!

When you are watching that video they show a poster of some of the 9/11 dogs. One of them is Kaiser: http://www.chicagonow.com/steve-dales-p ... 1/#image/1 (that website has pictures of him and Tony). During my short stint thinking I would do Schutzhund - I trained with Tony and spent some time around Kaiser. Haven't heard from him or his wife what they think about a Dutch Shepherd being named for their German Shepherd.

Here is one of the videos from Fox and Friends: http://video.foxnews.com/v/190102906000 ... scue-dogs/

Here is another one from the local Fox station: http://www.myfoxphilly.com/story/198195 ... g-to-serve

Asheley and I are very good friends. She was excited to be able to contribute to the program!

I don't have any foster dogs as of yet. Check in with Trudy and see what NADSR has coming up!

I do watch Fox News :-) and saw Kai--knew who the dog was since I have been following the UP program online--did you notice when the host asked the dogs to face the camera that Kai was the only one who turned, sat at heel, and looked up at her handler? Nice focus. LOL good girl! I remember a UKC obedience class I was in a few years back, and I had two DS there plus a friend had a brother to one of mine, at that point minimally trained since she was not a dog person--we just dragged her into the class for fun. Well...on the long sit stay, we probably had 10 dogs across the back of the ring...DS, DS, DS, and the rest Border Collies, Goldens, Poodles, etc. Well, the dog on the far right decided to lie down--and thereby started the Domino Effect. Dog number 2 looked at the first dog, thought, "Oh, drat, maybe I should be lying down, too!" Plop. Same alarmed look by dog 3...plop...all across the line. I wish I had a video. When they finally got to my dog, she gave them a disgusted look and focused back on the job at hand. By then, the only dogs left sitting were the three Dutch Shepherds. The Golden owner next to me said out of the side of her mouth, "That's sure a good advertisement for your breed." I almost blew it by laughing out loud. Yep--all three Q'd that day.

Maybe it would sooner offend people if you call the ones who watch fox news idiots. Has that occurred to you? :player:

But that aside.
I did not see it. A bit of a shame that they don't call the DS a DS, just 'shepherd' but from what I hear here, it was good advertising nevertheless. Good job! Go stripes. 8-)
