Best of luck, it seems to be quite a storm... very scary

We've just begun to get the first taste of it. Winds aren't up to the potential threat yet (and hopefully never will be), but it's clear something evil is lurking....

Hope it's not going to be as bad as the weather guys predict. They are having a field day after a weak hurricane season in the South.

For some the worst must have passed and for some she is still coming. Quite the mess from what we can see

All over the news here too, lots of people will have no power for at least 4 days I heard Will be cold with the snow coming in and all

Whew! We only lost power for about 20 hours...this time.

At least it was cold...you can always pile on more blankets, but last summer without power for a week with the temps in 100s was the worst.

I can't even express how happy I am that it was only for a day this time...

Hope others are faring well!

Good to see you surface Leih. 20 hrs is long enough to be without power, but I know what you mean...it can certainly be worse. (and possibly is for some other members, with nobody checking in yet)

Man...have you guys been watching any of the storm coverage on the news stations? Geeze...poor NJ and NY...so clobbered...

This is a freakish and massive storm and one of the most costly in history. West Virginia was hammered with blizzards on top of everything else. I beleive some members are in WV. hope you all have lots of firewood cut. During our last hurricane (Ike) we lost power for 14 days. Thankfully I have a big Honda generator. And also we had cool weather for first 10 days considering September in Houston can be quite hot. Best wishes to anyone in this storms wake. Hope you and your loved ones are safe!

Got power back this afternoon ! Wasnt as bad where I am as they expected but the coast and NY got slammed. It wasnt that cold so just a few blankets did just fine. It was scary to watch the news ( while i had it) to see the wind and the water damage. Dogs fared just fine. Nothing bothers Thalie anyway, Sunday afternoon, Sadie started to get worried but she calmed down. Having black dogs with no electricity was getting tough, I couldn't tell where they were, so we put glow sticks on them.
I hope everyone else is okay.

There was really nothing left of it by the time it got to Ohio. Just windy with a little rain and snow blowing around. The younger dogs acted weird while it was around. Gonna have to see if it's why Roxie flipped out when the instructor was holding her leash for recalls or if she doesn't like that instructor. She was ok for the other instructor so I'm sensing that she just doesn't like that person for whatever reason.

still no power here. tonight forced to RC shelter as cold winds in 30s have arrived. but at least i have communication like this for a couple hours. no power expected for another week with more cold and rain coming.

Be careful and stay dry. I hope you get power sooner then you expect.

Hang in there, John, and anyone else still coping with aftermath! Counting my blessings it didn't reach as far as me in my part of VT, (prepped for it, just in case, but just as glad to have not needed it,) but really thinking about those who got the brunt of it! Checked in with stepdad in NJ and good friends in Long Island and West VA... Relieved to have heard back from them, but appalled by some of what they describe. Stay warm!

i'm back. electric on. just need gasoline, of which there is none in this region - no gas lines, just closed stations. but should fix itself soon enough - i hope. meanwhile, all is ok. thank you all for your well wishes.
many people in the broad region do not have electric and even more have no communications or transport, but as that all gets restored, i think we are going to find a record number of dogs that are in deep distress or have their lives at immediate risk. so we should all be on the look-out for shelter notices, craigs list, ebay, or other means of finding shepherds that need appropriate aid.

We're ok now here. My husband and I were in Europe for the worst of the storm, and poor Zane was in a boarding facility with no power. They took good care of him though and we all (including Zane) camped out at a friend's place until our power came back on over the weekend (our power was out for 6 days).

I hope everyone else is doing ok - John - they say there's a lot more gas out there today than there has been recently, hope you can get some soon!
