i adopted bentley when he was a puppy and the shelter said he was a lab. soon his ears got erect and his fur started changing around his neck and his hind legs. it is a golden brown color. i thought maybe german shepherd mix until i came across the dutch shepherd. any thoughts?

He looks very shepherd-ish. He looks like he has at least some form of shepherd with those ears. Is bentley brindle? Either way, welcome to the forum. Regardless of the breed, we'd love it if you stuck around and maybe posted a bio about yourself in the introduction section.

Ya its weird, he was all black as a puppy and started to turn brindle and now he is changing all over. Except a patcj down the center of his back

He only has dew claws on his front legs, black nails with black pads on his paws. Idk ive seen some pictures on here of others that look like him. I like the forum and am here to stay regardless

As for your pup. Hard to say based on this one picture, but he certainly is not a lab mix. DS's are (supposed to be) all brindle.Brindle pups are born brindle, but the dark ones could appear to be (more) solid black looking until they start to grow. To the trained eye, though, there will never be a doubt about the brindle being present from the start.
