Last night on our walk, a total of 4 loose dogs came running up to us at different times. Odin just looked at them, wagged his tail, and kept walking. My husband was ready to take care of the loose dogs, but luckily they all returned to their owners when Odin showed no interest. His training has been going great so far, but this was the first time I actually got to see how he'd do with strange dogs sprinting up to him. It's not like that's something I want to test ever, but I'm really proud that he minded his manners.

Wow! I totally get why you're so excited about this!!! I hope ill be posting something similar to this about Stella someday! un-leashed dogs is one of my main concerns when going for walks! WTG Odin!!!!

Thanks for the kind words. We switched to training earlier in the day and I really think it's helping. I was training him at night and then he'd go to sleep an hour or so later. Now he trains in the morning, takes a nap, and free exercises in the afternoon. He seems to be actually getting exhausted and he's not reactive when he's tired.

We've been trying to go to Petsmart for a half hour everyday when they open. They have adoption cats in cages in the corner and I've slowly been working Odin towards them, clicking when he watches me instead of them and moving closer when he starts to ignore them.

That's a good plan. It's actually a good thing for them to rest after a training session, which gives new information time to be processed and go into long term memory.

You're doing a great job with the counter-conditioning and desensitization with the cats at PM...go team!

I think you might have the right audience here to truly appreciate this.
