Tonight was her obedience class......

At the end of class we did a group sit/stay and down/stay. Roxie was put in between 2 other dogs at 4 foot intervals. For the sit, both dogs next to her broke the stay and someone was making lots of noise with their keys in the ring....she stayed the full minute! On the down, one of the dogs broke it and the other dogs owner kept saying stay and waving treats around and again she stayed for the full time! It's a pretty big deal for a pup that just turned a year old I think! I have been told that she's ready for me to start expecting more perfection from her.

Yay! That's so exciting. I can't believe she's just turned a year. I can't believe Odin's going to be 3 this year. Everyone grows up too fast. How many more classes do you have to go in this session?

WOOHOO, that is so great !!!

She has 4 classes left in this session. We do 8 week classes. She is up to advanced beginners....we did beginners twice due to her age. I'm a little worried about her passing the CGC test at the end because she has a sudden fear of strangers. I've been working on it, taking her out....having strangers give her treats. I just don't see anything miraculous happening in the next 4 weeks. She's friendly enough but the separation thing might be too much for her.

Angela...there's no rush on the CGC! If you're pretty sure the separation exercise will be too hard for her, just wait and give yourselves opportunities to train and practice that exercise.

You want her to be successful. You don't want to set her up to fail. Listen to yourself...you know your pup.
