Don't tempt me! I already have a 2 year old female foster on the way. I don't need my husband to leave the crazy DS lady just when we're moving into our new house.

My first DS was whelped in 1996 - back when they were mostly unknown in the USA, and only a very few were being bred. About 5 yrs ago, when you did an internet search for DS breeders, there were very few.
Now there are sooo many people who are "breeders", with new ones popping up all the time, so it's not suprising to me that there are so many in shelters. The DS is becoming popular way too fast.

I just adopted mine 5 weeks ago.. He's just over a year and his previous owner "didn't know he'd be so big so we just chained him outside." Luckily they finally surrendered him to a local shelter. The breed seems to be pretty unknown where I'm from

I adopted a puppy that was in a shelter about 10 day ago. Believe he is a DS. They believe he was born around June 21st-26th

ok, that birthday is consistent with his photo and him being a DS or mix, so a bit more certain about him. he should be eating a huge amount - more than is conceivable for his small size. he could double in size in the next month and that takes a lot of good nutrition.

There are at least a dozen DS/ DS mix pups or young dogs on petfinder, including 4 very young and darling DS/lab pups...all of them are howling "rescue me please."

When they are pulled by NADSR, they are usually adopted to people who have PreAdoption applications already on file and are on a waiting list. If little are interested in going that route, they should get approved now because NADSR has placed many that never got posted on the website or facebook.

great looking, great sounding female puppy 8 months old [ a caffeinated cousin of Odin and Xander ] in NYS listed on adopt-a-pet as a DS mix, but is not a mix by any stretch of my imagination. this dog looks well- worth considering for anyone wanting a very young dog but ok with skipping the first crazy months.
